Storytelling for Bio-Medicine

Training

Story is what the brain does: we make sense of the world around us creating stories. That’s why storytelling is a key communication strategy, especially in health context, where it can inspire understanding and behavioural change. This interactive workshop equipped biomedical students with the skills to craft clear, engaging, and impactful narratives on scientific and health topics. Through practical exercises and real-world examples, participants learnt how to structure compelling stories, use metaphors effectively, and tailor messages to diverse audiences. Key themes included the psychology of storytelling, narrative structures, metaphor creation, and framing techniques. The session concluded with a writing and presentation exercise, where participants received expert feedback on their own stories. By the end, students had a strong foundation to transform biomedical content into narratives that inform, engage, and motivate action.
