The Falling Walls Coffee Break Mystery was a fast-paced, playful engagement format designed for the Falling Walls Network to spark meaningful conversations about sustainability in just 20 minutes. Disguised as a light-hearted detective game set during a fictional eco-gala, participants formed small teams, interrogated live “witnesses,” collected clues, and raced to solve the case of a stolen geo-engineering artefact.

By blending humour, role-play, and climate themes into an informal coffee-break moment, the activity lowered barriers to participation, encouraged interaction between strangers, and turned complex environmental issues into something social, memorable, and fun, proving that serious topics can thrive in playful formats.
