This hands-on training designed to help engagement teams generate fresh, visitor-centred activities by treating creativity as a practical, learnable skill. Guided by the Double Diamond design-thinking process, participants move through discovery, idea generation, and concept development using playful yet robust methods such as reverse thinking, the “magic if,” creative mistakes, and imaginative recombination.


Through collaborative exercises grounded in their own spaces, audiences, and themes, participants apply these techniques directly to the design of new engagement activities. Evaluation is embedded throughout the process, ensuring ideas are continuously tested for feasibility, relevance, and engagement potential. The result is not only a set of concrete activity concepts, but a lasting creative toolkit that builds confidence, strengthens cross-team collaboration, and reinforces the value of play as a driver of meaningful public engagement.
